Geo-filters let you add specific location-based filters to your photos and appear at thousands of places around the world. However you can only access geo-filters if you have location services and filters enabled, follow these easy steps to ensure you have geo-filter access;
1. To access Geofilters:
To enable location services for Snapchat on your device follow the steps below:
For Android devices:
Go to Settings > Location > Turn on
For iOS devices:
Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, and turn on for Snapcha
2. To enable Filters on Snapchat:
- Go to Snapchat Settings.
- Tap 'Manage Preferences' under Additional Services.
- Toggle 'Filters' on
3. Add a Geofilter to your Snap: Swipe on the Snap preview screen to check out which ones are around you now!
Sometimes it takes 15 minutes or so for satelite positioning to precisely identify the location of your phone. The satelite will show you in the approximate area, which may be outside the geo-filter area. There can be a lag until your phones precise current location is determined. Until the phone location identified by the satelite is the same as your geofilter location, the geo-filter will not display.
Top tip: Connect to wifi at your location as it helps your phone work out exactly where you are even quicker!
You can also check with friends who arrived at the location before you, whether their phones are picking up the filter. If a number of people can see the filter, but some people cannot, then the problem for those who cannot see the filter is likely to be their phone settings
